Revive those Bovedas!

I've been reusing my Bovedas across different bags of flower for yonks now, and I finally have one going crusty.

I used to throw them but heard that you can reuse them and then revive them.

So I'm having a go, and having a peek at the web this is allegedly a good method where the boveda can suck up some humidity but you don't mess the bag up dunking it directly in water. I've got to leave it in this a few days apparently - the little pot has water in it. I will report back on whether it's successful

If you have done this, have an idea for a different method, or have a question, chip in below

Hey, this is super interesting I didn't know they could be revived and as a bit of a hoarder I still have my old ones.
Just so I clearly understand, have you put it in a tupperware box with water in it?

That works, I do it with mine if they are not too old, doesn't take long Dunking them tends to speed up deterioratation of the paper.

When I do it this way it never really works, it will a bit but never to the same standard they work when they're directly wet.

There are minor concerns around mould but they're easily dealt with if you buy distilled water. I've been putting them directly in water for 2 years now, never had a single issue with mould in any flower or on the bags directly fwiw.

I've took the lid off so you can see. Everything sealed in the bigger tub, Bovedas one side and a small pot of water in the other

Do they actually deterioratate quicker? if it does then original rate of deterioratation must be very slow, I've still got the ones I got with my first ever script 4 years ago and I've been dunking them for 2 years and theres not a single bit of faded ink letalone a tear. I often forget about them and leave them dunked for days as well but I guess in theory it would be true.

I've never actually bought any, how much do you reckon it sets you back over a year? I doubt it's a lot but ive also been curious!

I must be very heavy handed! I do have some Bov from 5 yrs ago that are now past it, the Boost brand tends to last a shorter time, likely I was thinking of their paper ?

PS I've rehydrated my Boosts like that aok ... don't last as long.

I've never had a boost bag, I know loads of people think they're better but be fucked if I know. Are they a weaker product with the paper then?

Boost paper seems to be less durable yes.

Little over £50 for the Boveda's + postage so easy £70+ yearly

Boveda is much more durable, but I like the wee round Boost, I use them for ground in a jar that has dried out a bit too much, I like vaping material that is more moist , around 62%

I used to use plant pot pieces and wet them when I grew ( 3 -4 decades ago) to maintain humidity during the cure, I used to grow a lot, mostly outdoors in UK and elsewhere and tended to cure for extended periods, outdoor plants seemed to me to be very green and colourful compared to indoor of any type, richer in Chlorophyll hence a long 2 month cure, at least! I never got into tents and hydro when it began in uk, didn't consume much green anyway, hassh hash hash was me.

I left the tub on the windowsill in the sun to help the water evaporate and get into the sack.

Couldn't help a quick grope and it's noticeably moister already, although with some way to go.

I once bought a 10pack for £15 which is not the best price, but then I started having more and more as 4C Labs and some other brands do include a boveda. I think I have like 15 now.

I can use one for like 2-3 months before going crusty.

So if you've got a couple of strains on the go its not so bad cost wise. Thanks for the insight mate, I could have just googled it but community conversation and all that lol.

I must have got the majority of mine from 4C Labs, I have gone through stages of buying nothing but in the past. How times have changed!

Results are in already, this has worked an absolute treat and the boveda is lovely and juicy again, just like new or better.

Nice and simple and effective, didn't have to dry out a soggy packet which is a bonus, I think it being in the sun helped a lot.

I use the raw hydrostone to do this now and it's much easier and quicker

Excellent thread! I tested your method a few months back with ~10 bovedas, laid out flat/against the walls in a tuppaware tub, with a shot glass of water inside. First day or two, only the bovedas close to the glass of water began to hydrate. So each morning I would rotate them around the tub. After 4-5 days, and a little sunshine, they were juicy again. I weighed a couple before and after, they went from roughly 4g to 4.5g, although some maxed out at 4.3g.

I recall reading a similar method, except they sprayed the underside of the tuppaware lid with water. I was planning on trying this next time, as it may speed up the process.

Just to be clear, are you using the hydrostone to revive the bovedas? Or to hydrate the bud? I'm yet to try one
