Suggested 📊 Member Poll: Turn Off Holly Updates for Pharmacy Threads?

Title pretty much explains it in one. I've made the comment before here that I think Holly's stock updates should just be moved to the main database (in a table), and removed from pharmacy threads as updates by @Holly. I've read frustrated comments from users again today about threads getting clogged up.

Simple poll to make sure this is the right decision before we commit.

I did find it annoying but i check Mamedica® thread that holly updates constantly all the time and saves me looking elsewhere about status and saves me looking on an overly bright mamedica app, for me it has its uses but can understand its annoyance to some.

I have Holly on ignore but the threads are still ruined imo. A new member posted on Montu/ Alternaleaf a couple of weeks back and I was the only person that responded due to Holly drowning out everything. i have tried unblocking at the end of the month when I'm picking my prescription but the constant updates to not available (which isn't a stock status) make it unusable. I now have a policy to avoid any thread that shows 'ignored member' which is quite a lot of them

I find having Holly on ignore works for me in the Medicann thread, a little bugbear (win 10 desktop) is scrolling to the end of the page to click 'see ignored content' if you want a stock update/link to the stock then the page flicks back to the top rather than the first unread, but that's software annd is no bother.

I don't really care for them myself. I tend to look at the main database but when I was with Medicann I did find them useful at first to some degree.

It sounds like there's a bit of a mixed bag of opinions here. Some folks find the updates helpful, especially for specific pharmacies like Mamedica®, while others feel they clutter up the threads and make it hard to find other content.

Perhaps a compromise could be adding a dedicated section on MedBud.wiki for stock updates, while still having the option for those who prefer to get updates in threads. This way, everyone can choose what works best for them.

It's actually not too bad in the Mamedica Pharmacy thread compared to some where it gives granular updates when stock goes down by 1 where as Mamedica's it's just price changes, low stock ,in stock and out of stock and is easy to tidy up daily

This one is the opposite end of the spectrum to the Mamedica one and will amass four pages of updates per day and is a pain in the backside to keep on top of

There is arguably the middle-ground of just turning off stock quantity updates and keeping status/price changes for pharmacies, but nonetheless, I still feel it would clog-up threads with content that would be irrelevant before long.

Given, as of writing, we're at 14 votes for the changes, and 1 against - we'll move ahead with this

@Holly is now turned off for pharmacy updates, I'll get the main database changes completed as soon as possible, though I have just discovered a bug with a couple of our formularies recording history that needs solving first.

I’m guessing it’s a lot less work to move Holly to new separate update posts, than integrate it in the main site.

It was good info for the 1st week, then it just got in the way of chat. Scrolling at hundred miles an hour to reach the bottom of each page. Probably missing the only single human post that may be in amongst the updates.

It’s killed that section for me entirely unfortunately.

On the existing thread you've give me an idea how to restore the thread minus the Holly deleted posts as they can be moved out of the thread to restore it to a more user friendly thread again for now whilst we a solution is found overall

I used to keep up on all Pharmacy and Dispensing posts, not just Newgrove. But it just became impossible to see real chat.

I started ignoring holly only a couple of weeks ago, so I could get back in to it. But now I have lots of blank pages with new updates and some post just don’t make sense without seeing what was said by Holly.

Hopefully moving to a separate thread will revive the chat to what it once was.

Keeping it in the forum but elsewhere, it would still be accessible for those who still find it useful but separated from chat.

Blocked the bot after it created some random post on one of my threads by accident. i thought it was some random commenting, since the comment disappeared.
Not against bots, just against talkative bots that invade threads constantly.
