Vapes Vape variables?

Hi folks,

First prescription is on its way. Precision scales ordered as well as grinder, now for the vape.

My question is, what are the variables or qualities I should be looking out for in regards to deciding on a decent vape? The price range of the market seems to be quite wide and I have no experience in using one.

Depends what you want in a tool - that's what this is really

Do you want features, or do you want reliability and longevity

Portable or desktop

A low price point or a decent warranty

Do you want to be able to use it just for dry flower, or for concentrates or both

Do you want replaceable batteries / non-plastic vapour delivery / etc / etc

I am not bothered about features, in fact the simpler, the better. Just a good solid workhorse that does the job.

I didn't realize you can get desktop ones, but portable would be for me.

Low to mid price point and used just for dry flower.

Not quite sure about batteries, just expected to be charged up via USB or something. And yes, not thought of this but would prefer not to be sucking on heated plastic

Except for the plastic mouthpiece bit, based on what you said sounds like a mighty plus would be about right, or the venty if you can stretch to it

Others may have other suggestions though, but I have had both of these devices and can recommend both with the venty my personal favourite

Everyone is different to be honest. I've recently been enjoying switching and trying strains across the following

Xq2
Dynavap hyperdyn
Vapana ace
Solo 3

And using water pieces, bubblers etc...

I’m a long term vape user pre switching to MC. I’ve used a pax3 for the last few years and never had any issues in terms of harshness or irritation, I like to go up through the temps from 165 to 230. Since starting medical I upgraded to a mighty plus and pretty much always get irritation at the 195 mark, not below or above… I think I need to get a longer mouthpiece or stem, what are the options and any recommendations would be appreciated.

Maybe a whip hose attachment? I find it great for limited hand mobility. Available on amazon etc ready made or make your own funky one from RVS

Look for a vape that has adjustable temperature, easy cleaning, good battery, and either convection or Hybrid heating. Those are the main qualities that make a device reliable and easy to use for beginners.

Get one that has dosing capsule accessories. Maintenance and dosing is so much easier. I am a helathy rips / wolkenkraft fan myself.

Congrats on getting your first prescription! It can be a bit daunting with so many options available, but I'd focus on a few key things rather than price alone.

Ease of use is a big one, especially if you're new to vaping. Battery life, temperature control and how easy the device is to clean are all worth considering. I'd also look at build quality and whether replacement parts are readily available, as a good vape should last you a long time.

Personally, I found it better to invest in something reliable rather than going for the cheapest option and upgrading later. Whether you'll mainly be using it at home or out and about can also help narrow things down.

I concur, I've had 2, the 1st still works after 5 yrs after being battered daily. The newer Mighty+ is just as good

I would agree on the benefit of saving and buying something higher quality. I got a Starry Max V4 about 12 months ago. I'm on the second mouthpiece (that's also fallen apart) and it's just a little "meh". At about £80, I knew it wasn't top end but thought it would have still been pretty decent.

Now looking at putting some money away, most likely for the Tinymight 2.

I have never tried all those silly money ones but I have been using my dynavape m since 2020 maybe the year before .
It's just that good is hard to see why I would need to spend so much on anything else . I tend to wear out a cap ever year and a half but really I think I should buy an armoured cap next time .
I had a cheap £30ish electric vape that was useless more often burned things than vape it .
I have and use daily a xmax oont pro with dosing capsules .I really struggle to see how the £250 £300 ones can be six times better than the oont . It's seems to have the same features as the expensive ones but a tiny battery that will just about do five dosing caps .
I only expect or to last a year but for £50 it's not bad . Not as good as a dynavape but a lot more convenient in hi wind when I walk the dog .
I would love to try an expensive venty or mighty just to see if they really are that good .
I only chipped in because you said low price point and all these discussions end up with everyone saying buy a mighty or a venty .

Roffu is a great choice for a lower-end well performing vape. Personally I don't rate the Mighty, it's fine but not much better IMO.

In terms of something like the Tinymight being 6 times better than the Oont, it's really dependant on what you value. The Tinymight is repairable whereas I don't think the Oont is going to be as easy to repair. Also the choice of materials, some of us aren't the biggest fan of plastic vapes.

Now I know the Oont is supposed to be decent, but longevity is going to be the big difference. I'm not saying the Oont couldn't last 5 years but it's less likely than something like the Tinymight.

I'm not saying every vape that's £200+ is worth that but some definitely have reasons for being that price and you can decide. There are more shops now that allow MC users to try out vapes so this could be an option if you don't know anyone else with one that you could try.

There are a number of top quality vapes at the lower end of the market but they're lesser known and/or are harder to use in some ways.

For example, the Vaponic is one of the best vapes you can get flavour and potency wise. It's cheap af but it's easily broken and takes some technique to get good results. Something like a Mighty requires zero technique, you bung the weed in and suck the mouthpiece. I can get way more out of my weed and harder hits in the Vaponic than the Mighty but that won't necessarily be the same for someone else using the Vaponic.

That's why I've been recommending the Roffu to a lot of people. It's straightforward to use and easy to clean. Battery-powered so you don't need to learn any torch technique and you can easily swap out batteries. Metal body that feels well made and sturdy. It's £108 on RVS at the moment, and great value at that price.
