Cruise Line says 'no' to Medical Cannabis?

Hello all, just a question really. Checking out a friends holiday pics - she's on a cruise with Oceania Cruises. Clear as day it states on the FAQ's that medical cannabis is not allowed on ship as it is not legal in some of the countries where the ship is docking? Is this correct? Maybe they said it as they can't control people taking their meds off the ship in port? Not sure though - thoughts anyone?

From what I read about others experience that seems to be the core of it. Ship is subject to the laws of visited countries. iirc even having cannabis on board would break the laws of those countries where it is illegal,

P&O's North Sea Ferries used to have a 'ship's policeman' who'd spend the whole return trip from Rotterdam to Hull running around the ship bothering folk to put their spliffs out.

Then flight prices came down and the ship's policeman became a moot point.

As @OldBloke says, the cruise line can't allow it if the boat will enter the territorial waters of any nation where cannabis possession is illegal. It's not about taking it on shore or not, as a countries law/legal jurisdiction extends to its maritime boundaries.
