I don't want to get in to all the ins and outs but my opinion is.
I wouldn't drink and drive!
I wouldn't take Co-Codamol and drive!
I wouldn't medicate and drive!
You are the judgment, you should never drive if you think you may be impaired in any way.
It just needs a way for testing to be accurate or a sobriety test of some kind.
Dunno, just a thought.

That's helpful overall to explain the essense of it, but reference to a cannabis card as evidence is completely misleading as there is no legally recognised card
There are cards available to buy which police might recognise, but that's not the same as the correct evidence (prescription label / prescription copy & proof of ID), and just serves to make more people go and give money to the people hawking the cards

The first time I was prescribed diazepam, it was not really explained to me as I thought it was for my back pain... I drove home from work, no idea how I managed it. Never again lol

It's definitely not as clear cut as the law makes it out to be.
There are people who shouldn't be anywhere near the driver's seat of a car even in their sober state, and there are people who can medicate with cannabis and be fine to drive within 20 minutes, and everybody else lies somewhere on that spectrum. Driving tired is way more dangerous than driving having medicated earlier that day, and yet entire portions of society are dependent on people commuting 2 hours on 4 hours sleep to do their 10th consecutive 12 hour shift in a hospital, for example. Driving in the middle of a furious argument is way more dangerous than driving while 0.1ml over the limit, etc.
But yeah, the general rule should be if you're not in a calm, collected, focussed state of mind with good vision, hearing, coordination and cooperative passengers, then do not drive. It doesn't really matter if the reason you're not in that state is because of medications or just life in general, the outcome is the same.

If you mean telling the DVLA you are prescribed MC, as far I as I know, you don't

I'm pretty sure you have no need to mention Medical Cannabis on your application for a driving license but have to make them aware of medical conditions and if you already have a driving license you don't need to do anything after becoming a MC patient for normal driving (not hgv).

Hi, yes I’m aware you do not need to tell them but as part of the medical I do every so often because I have a medical condition, they ask about my medications and sometimes drug test.

It won't as its just another medication like any other and my wife has to fill out the same application and the same rules apply as with other medications related to impairment .
No worries and it's the stigma imprinted on us that makes us apprehensive on these matters but hopefully we're moving forward one step at a time , hope it all goes wellThank youI thought this would be the case but I still feel apprehensive!

Legend has it - @GrownHealth 's driving really improves post vape. 
Na mate ,my driving is solid always and I tend to still leave plenty of time after vaping before I'll drive but thinking about it we've got full internet in the car so could be sat in the hills typing here or the seaside with my laptop lol.

I currently have a revoked licence, a side light out at the back end of covid saw me pulled, and while they had me I passed the breathalyser but failed a swab test, I wasn't stopped for my driving, I only get a 3 year licence as I'm a T1 diabetic.
So I'm in the process of trying to get my licence back, diabetes clinic say I'm fit to drive & mention my cannabis use as a pain med so the next step is the DVLA drivers medical, that involves a urine test, my consumption hasn't changed (7-10g/week) so we shall see how medical cannabis plays out in the next couple of weeks.

Do let us know! I barely drive but I'd defo fail the swab, like most of us lol. Do we even know how long a swab is marking us 1g/dayish users?
