Vapes Mighty battery change.

Cheers, I come from an engineering background and am prone to meddle :D

It has the same battery life as when it was new so the battery's larger capacity isn't being used but there's no fault codes showing, so I've declared it fixed, and I've certainly tested it 😂

36 yrs Advanced Radio Amateur and a few other old electronic C & Gs at "night school" , forgot most of it but if anything stays still long enough I'll take it apart to 'blow the dust out" or "check the caps" :)

Nice, I did a year of night class at school doing basic electronics, some guys built the ZX80 and I made a transistor radio, and years later I wanted a guitar valve amp, looked at prices and came across an American guy online with schematics/layouts and advice on building a 'micro' amp, a few years later I have 4 decent sounding home made valve amps & 3 matching speaker cabs and I know a little more than when I started :)

An old Mighty a pal bought new, sold to me and bought back, only to be sold to me again and it's had some use, the interweb suggested it used 3300mah when in fact they're 2700mah ones, the replacements have a slightly higher capacity, there's also some heat damage on the case as the case has broken where the screw heads are.

I've seen 3500mah used as replacements but currently can't find any heatshrink big enough, so this evening I'll practice soldering on one of the old batteries, I've drawn polarity on for my future reference :D

Hi I am looking for some information my mighty + suffered a short on the board that I have now repaired but it took out two smd diodes that need to be replaced thing is as they were destroyed I do not know the correct orientation for the new ones ( they have a line on one end) they are on the display side of the board near the edge behind the button if some one could look I would really appreciate any help given

1783495000864.png Is the orientation of a standard diode, the line indicates the negative side or the 'cathode' end.

It'd be handy to know the diode type though as if they happen to be 'zener' diodes used for voltage regulation they can go in backwards. :P
 
Many thanks for your reply. Unfortunately the diodes were destroyed maybe I can see the part of the letter S on one the function of that part of the circuit is pat of the turn on circuit so they are likely blocking diodes I was hopping to reach out to someone with the device that would be willing to take a look for the diode type and orientation. From testing available points on the board the diodes to be across 0v and -4v measured relative to the battery negative. I have taken an image of the area showing where the two diodes were and some connection info.
