Travel and expiry dates

Hi
I’m travelling to Gran Canaria mid June. I want to take my oil with me. I have researched the paperwork needed etc and have everything sorted and ready to apply for the permit.
But - the oil I have has just gone past the expiry date on the bottle (I am using it quite slowly)…..so am I ok to take oils abroad that are past the expiry date or should I get a new bottle and then apply?

Hi Bobster, afaik it's not relevant, much of mine is OOD, doesnt mean a lot. If you have your script and original packing - tub/box and whatever the gov of the island require you will be fine

I read that they do understand you might run out of the specific meds you're applying with before you travel. I was told to just make sure to use absolutely the same brand when travelling that matches the paperwork.

I’d probably get a fresh bottle before applying, just to avoid any issues at the border. Even if the oil itself is still fine, an expired label could create unnecessary questions with the permit or customs.

I took it anyway - been back a few weeks. I didn’t get the correct form from the embassy because theydidn’t get it back to me on time (despite me leaving loads of time in advance). There were no issue at all.
In future I intend to use holidays as a tolerance break to reduce the hassle.

I see youve been and come back but just wanted to say Ive been back and forth to GC 3 or 4 times a year since unlock, and I have never been stopped not one. In fact, I think their customs area has been roped off every time. Not been stopped since using MC, last time I applied for the import licence they never even got back to me! So I got my travel letter and script and just took that. Still didnt get stopped.

Also, for anyone wishing to use out there, technically youre not supposed to use in public (although everyone does) but there is a nice little lounge that also has some nice weed and hash to sell, it cost 30euros to join but you get that back off the cost of your first purchase. Run by a British guy. It's on the top floor of the Yumbo centre in Playa del Ingles, above the supermarket.

I just buy when I get there now, saves any worry.

Thanks for that information. Since then I have found that I get best results from flower that has been decarbed - I have stopped taking oil. What I’ve decided to do is to treat holidays as a break to reset my system.
