Industry Who made the Decision to freeze dry at Glass Pharms?

Thanks for that brilliant information SoH. how comes you didn't defend them so vociferously earlier in the thread? Bottom line, was their bud any good? I would say it has to be at the very least on a par with everyone else's product and is probably superior to many. So why do they receive so much hate and are constantly dogged by rumours of freeze drying? If GP were their mate's BM grow op, they wouldn't be able to stop boasting about it. I mean the comments on YouTube on the video I posted above are brutal - you would really think Glass Pharms are the worst in the world, where as it seems as if they are one of the best in the world. Loads of comments saying they don't know what the F they're doing, probably made by people who've grown 1 cannabis plant in their life. Perhaps it is GP's competitors that start these rumours? Perhaps It's GP's own fans and customers attempting to keep GP all to themselves? To me, this seems like a British producer we can be proud of. A little out of my usual price range but I can't wait to treat myself. Even the packaging is a work of art and I have no association of affiliation with them.
Every single little thing dialed in except the soul (terpenes)of the plant which what makes profit, el chivo i think was the last i bought , If this is the future of canna then its done n as i have said before its noob nugz for patients thats new or who dont care about terpenes.

High terp flower will dominate , when minor cannabinoids will be took seriously then maybe we could see a better theraputic profile with terpene preservation rather than THC stability. Blinkers on for THC and ignore the rest as THC and clean canna is most important over terpenes.

Its 1 of the best growing facilities i have seen globally, Having a range of THC would be better for them to preserve terpenes than a strict set % which is easier to achieve esp with cryo curing. If the terpenes is there at end of grow then fresh profile preservation can happen for some serious good hash.

The best growers in the world preserve terpenes cos if they didnt they wouldnt be the best but in legacy market they dont have to preserve THC the way MC does. GP really can grow good weed its just the terpenes have suffered and far too green for flower , Its drying to fast n not breaking down clorophyl n sugars over a fortnight , stable temp over 1 week preserves monoterps . They call it LOUD in the legacy market.

I agree with much of that however, flavour chasing is a relatively new concept. Back in the day (35-40 years ago) we didn't have so many strains and terp profiles, all we really cared about was the effects. GP do produce a couple of THC/CBD balanced strains, which is unusual in itself and they should be applauded for this. I would like to see a lot more THC/CBD ratios available as well as other cannabinoid levels included in the specs. I'm finding it difficult to believe GP's weed is as dead as they say. It doesn't compute. Still, what do I know? I haven't tried it yet.

THC distillate has not got the best rep for a reason and full spectrum is not all about marketing there is real science behind. Terpenes is the effect and potentiates THC. We have come a loooong way since 35-40 years with terp science and to be honest science nowhere near explaining the theraputic effects of flavourants in cannabis but will get there.

Hash man or or afghan free weed?. I love reading of the old terpinolene asian strains that became colombian gold etc and its soaring effects due to it .

The sedation of Myrcene/ Caryophyllene heavy afghan is not really about THC . Each region own personality not witthc but terpenes and thiols esters.

The old Sativa heads hated afghan in strains as Myrcene sedation took over in flower like a hash dominating the stimulant terpenes , even a small amount of afghan nullified the real soaring high. Burnt rubber afghan was the proto road kill skunk that was bred sweeter and people felt tasted n smelt it . The names are clues to the terpenes and thiols especially n that was about 50 years ago.

Tried balanced strains from GP , fair effects but not the best theraputic profile for me anyway. Thiol ester weed on top of terpenes is alot stronger than 30% THC terpless weed. 17-20% cheese will still blow alot of higher THC strains away n wall penetrating stench called a thiol was the culprit.

Yes, I tend to ignore the THC % and look for the presence of Myrcene and Caryophyllene when I'm looking for a sedating strain. It's also the reason I had ground hop pellets to my edibles as they are rich in these terpenes, which explains why so many cannabis strains smell hoppy. Yes of course terpenes were always important for aroma and taste, what I was trying to say is, there was a lot less variation back then and we weren't all critiquing weed like wine snobs back then. I too look forward to when all the cannabinoids, terpenes, flavinoids are well researched in regard to their influence on the entourage effect and that strains are bred with far more than just THC levels being considered. Here's to future weed.

We became educated , we know what terpenes works for us now we can name them, you didnt have the knowledge back then n was just effect but. 1978 skunk smell n taste started to change it. Id say we can have maybe even a better palate than wine snobs. You cant force anyone to like a flavour or a stimulating terp when they need Myrcene , Takes a looong time to find what works n good knowledge of terpenes .

In this instance they are critiquing the lack of terpenes, Standards are standards n prob 25% of MC is up to ok standard 75% alot of it is a disgrace and patients need to taste or smell whats like old brown , mould, mildew , microseeds etc just like food tasting whats not meant to be there n thats most important is tasting whats went wrong. Heres to a future with 3-4% terpenes

Jack Frost?

And yes, I've stupidly bought 2 Styro Pharms products just to be sure, and I can categorically say from my experience that freeze drying sucks the absolute soul out the bud and I will never buy it again unless they swap to curing properly
2, Styro Pharmers:ROFLMAO: whoom comeout wid dat i wonda?

It can't be just the THC can it? We never had 20+% THC weed widely available in the 80s and 90s. I've never had any MC so far that comes close to the best I tried throughout the late 80s and 90s. To be there fair, there was quite a bit lof sub par floating about then too and imported weed I think was more common in the UK than "home" grown. Also, I didn't see that much weed myself until the early 90s as hash was far more prevalent in my area and probably most of the UK back then. I wonder why they just don't keep cloning classic strains like Northern Lights and make them constantly available. Why do we have to have a constantly revolving smorgasbord? Also, I try not to totally judge a book by its cover. I've had beautiful, sticky buds that have been disappointing in their effects and dry, ugly, bags of bush weed or schwag, full of seeds that blew my socks off.

This medical weed is a completely different kettle of fish to old skool weed. The genetix have been pushed on pulled back, twisted and regurgitated so far now down the lines that there's no comparisons to be had. There in 2 different stables, well that's my SOH take on it. Prob wrong or prob right as always pmsl

You're spot on—they belong in completely different stables. Old skool weed relied on natural, balanced genetics, typically averaging 10% to 15% THC with rich, musky Myrcene profiles and natural plant variation. Modern medical cultivars have been selectively bred, twisted, and stabilized down the line into uniform, pharmaceutical-grade products. With THC ceilings jacked up to 25% to 30%+, CBD stripped out, and terpenes re-engineered for hyper-specific dessert or fuel profiles, today’s cannabis has been transformed from a variable agricultural crop into a highly engineered, predictable medicine.

Exactly. You’ve hit on the literal turning point of modern cannabis history. During the heavy prohibition era in America, that raw, unmistakable "stank"—which scientists now know comes from volatile sulfur compounds (VSCs)—was a dead giveaway.

Helicopters, thermal imaging, and law enforcement could easily pinpoint a house or a hidden greenhouse just by the sheer volume of that skunk smell cutting through the air.

Because of that intense legal heat, growers and breeders were forced to adapt to survive. They deliberately started selecting phenotypes and breeding lines that dialed down the aggressive, pungent sulfur stink and dialed up the sweeter, fruitier, and more doughy terpene profiles (like the rise of the Cookies and dessert eras). A plant that smelled like baked goods or berries was a million times easier to mask with carbon filters and conceal from neighbors than a plant that smelled like a literal dead skunk.

So, the war on drugs literally reshaped the plant's chemical DNA—forcing breeders to trade that legendary old-skool loud stank for stealthier, sweeter genetics just to keep the grows from getting busted.

Hi, New user here just thought i'd throw my 2 pence in about the old strain new strain thing. Smokin since 04 I'll say this. Back then it was soapbar and the "white" strains widow, rhino, shark, ak47 along with skunk and cheese, haze was still a rarity, northern lights, cheese and widow were peak trust me, importance was crystal and dryness for weight, along with the quality of the actual nug, it was naturally sticky and robust, the flavours were all floral, spicy, hashy, etc and then cheese lol, and the effects were soaring or couchlock with giggles etc, whitey'ing was common. shit homegrown was also sometimes common tho lol.

Then the next wave was still this robust strong backbone of mixed landraces combined with different flavours, very polarised from mango haze n lemon haze/skunk n grapefruit to diesels and blueberrys, sages, criticals, an og/hindu kush etc still very robust buds and also very different structures and stuff, we're talking 06-08 it was the best of times, bud were healthy looking, stinking, snapping and sticky was the goal, there were about 20 odd FIRE strains u cud rely on.

Then there was a switch with dna genetics and the big seed companies followed by stardawgs and stuff and a huge explosion in strains with overlapping qualities, then the cakes, gelatos, z's, pies, cookies etc etc etc not many pure Indicas or Sativas left, no real individual expression, we're all just searching for the perfect bud that will never exist, and imo going backwards. these genetics have no backbone its a genetic lottery, half the terpenes they find don't translate into the smoke or vapor anyway, and they leave in moisture to preserve them, but the bud suffers in the process.

Really we're all hankering for a perfect example of cheese, or skunk, or super silver, or og kush, and we're finding it muddy'd by the frankenstrains. It would be so much easier to do this in the mid to late 00's, or early 2010s. those terpenes were the pinnacle imo, strong aromas that transferred to taste that was unmistakable as what it was supposed to be, u knew what was and wasn't ur kinda bud. and everyone knew the best cure was a hard sticky bud that kept its shape being broken up, and grinded beautifully (u cud hear it). When was the last time u felt a satisfying resistance in your grinder?

Just do hash medical companies, please, u'll kill it, in a good way.

Who made the Decision to freeze dry at Glass Pharms?

The Spreadsheet did.

Spreadsheets can talk almost anyone into almost anything
when the nuclear winds have settled and the last men crawl out of their nuclear bunkers. people will search far and wide for in date cannabis. They are cornering the post nuclear cannabis market. its the equivalent of a plant Tardigrade, indestructible......

thanks, it just annoys me lol, like anyone gives a crap if ur choice is between lets say, MAC, Wedding Cake and Biscotti, they're all very similar and if they're all grown and cured well it really makes no difference.

ive had several flavours from Glass Pharms including Mac 3, Blackberry CBG, Green Kush, Tangerene boose &Apple Gelato (from what I can remember). All 1st class buds, 1 or 2 of them were slightly crispier than norm but no drama and I use a PAX so it actually helps. If freeze-drying it protects more the flavours, terpenes & compounds, and for longer with minimal disturbance, than I'm all for it. Their Jars are kinda cool too. are there any other strains in the market with CBG?

In my friend's case, terpenes and flavour were definitely lost, it was"weed light" (not effect wise tho). But she is actually enjoying the "less intrusive" version of the bud.
