Your runner's high isn't endorphins (or The mechanistic link between omega-6 fatty acids, the endocannabinoid system (ECS) , and inflammation)

Anandamide is the key! Not surprising that this is mostly ignored by sports people, it's that canna stigma again. Thanks for the post 8-D

Agreed @OldBloke Anandamide is the key along with how it is made in our bodies and also how critical the source and quantity of omega 6 is to all of this.

I increase mine with edibles prior to going to the gym. It makes the gym fun. Lessens the pain and stress of it all. I couldn't speak for running as I don't do that, but I do think a piece of fudge or toffee made with coconut oil and some nugs of your own choice is very beneficial. Unfortunately most of the ideal fats for omega 3 and 6 are also ones i'm allergic to. Coconut and Butter are not ideal, but I do try and eat fish 2-3 times a week.

Dr Hazlett is my prescribing doctor and I think his key message is that however you use cannabis, supporting your ECS through diet, mindful dosing, and rest can help your medicine work better.

@Hazy-Haze Love the edibles before the gym idea – makes total sense to make movement more manageable and even enjoyable. Sorry to hear about the allergies to omega-rich fats though, that must make things trickier. Sounds like you've found a good workaround with the fish 2–3 times a week, which is similar to what I do. We all find our own way to support our ECS with what works for our bodies.
