Hi from Blighty

This looks like a great forum and some of the info has been really interesting.

Was diagnosed with "Left-sided sacroiliac (SI) joint dysfunction and degenerative changes in the lumbar spine" and have decided turn to MC after quite a few years of self medicating.

I've had OTC painkillers, chiropractor, acupuncture. Cocodimol knocks me for 6 (left over from dental pain). Recently got a script for Naproxen, but that really doesn't agree with me. Also had an NHS referral for a musculoskeletal team.

Registered with one of the 'clinics' and was told I have to tell the GP Naproxen is not for me and when that shows on my NHS app, that should meet eligibility requirements. With any luck they will accept me and if they do, how do you avoid the dry old flower? Are current products from places reviewed? I prob sound daft but how do ppl avoid getting taken advantage of and getting given garbage?

I'm sure this has all been asked before.... lol

Cheers

Welcome to MedBud @SacroFortis and lets hope all goes well with your application but it looks like you will have satisfied their criteria now 🤞

Regarding how dodge dusty meds I really think word of mouth or more precisely us all sharing our experiences with certain brands/products and many a bullet has been dodged by reading through threads here and asking others who have recently had the flower you are seeking knowledge on and we are a friendly bunch here with many members going that extra yard to help someone else out .

Hi

Yeah, knowledge is power, and there's safety in numbers!

So, is garbage flower a thing? Do people get stuck with a bag of dusty nonsense?

I've just found a UK based MC channel that reviews strains, and they seem to be available from the place I'm speaking to...

If accepted I will for sure share my experiences.

Hello bud, hope you're well and welcome to the forum.

Plenty of shared experiences here with the plethora of products available, you'll normally find a review knocking around somewhere on the specific product thread :)

Any questions or queries please don't hesitate to reach out, we're a friendly bunch here to help! :D

Without trying to be complicated about reviews, we all have different health issues and one flower might work for someone and others it won't, when people talk about garbage flower its not always the freshness that people are talking about.

Appreciate it - thanks a ton.

I have to be honest feel, I am excited, nervous and daft for not doing this before!

For sure.

Hope to be back with a 'my first time with MC' review sometime soon.

Cheers

We've all been their mate, you'll be fine, just post anything here if your unsure about anything and someone will help here 👍 sounds like you've met the criteria it should be plain sailing but depending on the clinic expect the doc to pick your first meds.

Nice one.

Things I was hoping - we were in New York late last year and the Cookies stuff was damn good IMHO. As it's known to me, can I ask for some Cookies products?

Can I ask for a vape and flower? The only vape I've ever had that didn't taste like soap and didn't make me cough was NY...

Sorry...

Regarding "garbage rubbish flower" 😁 , my personal experience is, 10-20% of MC is indeed rubbish, but following word of mouth, forum ratings etc, putting a little time into it, you can get the good stuff.

And then it comes down to personal preference and condition.
It's VERY unlikely me, a neurodiverse patient will benefit from the same med that works for someone with physical pain.
I have ordered flower everyone was on about, and in the end, I was like "yeah, I kind of get what everyone loves, but this doesn't work for me". This will be YOU a couple times. Then you will learn your strain/terpene preferences (forget those damn Indica / Sativa things, everything is basically a Hybrid these days, research terpenes instead).

And yes, you can get vape and flower. I had a bad tasting one and 4 absolutely amazing tasting ones, but then I learned vape carts just don't work for me, so I gave them up. Only flower works for me, no oils, no vapes. Then there are people who barely touch flower and only do oil or carts.

Just monitor yourself and get to know yourself and enjoy not having to take chemicals with ten thousand side effects

hello and welcome, you don't normally have to the your GP that a medication that they've prescribed isn't working, just the fact its been prescribed and then you tell the cannabis clinic that it didn't work is enough.
also if you have a receipt from the acupuncture or chiropractor that also counts as one of the two tried and failed treatments.

Yeah, I've had a good read about terpenes, seems like a huge subject and fascinating.

I love stuff like Northern Lights and Cheese (the Exodus one!). My knowledge of the 'modern' strains is not huge. Maybe you can tell I'm an old school kinda person and prob very uninformed?!? LOL

Using Leafy and ChatGPT I think have narrowed it down to Myrcene, Caryophyllene and Pinene.

I literally loathe modern Haze which is Limonene heavy? In my current situation, my head is in my hands when I'm given Haze. It really is pointless for me and with no means of inspecting before buying, it's a total waste of £ and time.

Watched a Medicated Marty (pls delete if not allowed to mention names?) video review of Hawaiian Rain which sounds like it might be right up my street.

In terms of the GP and Clinic - Mamedica® (again, pls delete if not appropriate) told me that I would have to wait a month on or off the dreaded Neproxin, or get GP to make a note on my records that the Naproxen is incompatible, which I have just done.

GP is now prescribing some kinda codeine and paracetamol? When I had cocodimol for dental pain, it turned me into a dribbling zombie.

I have chiropractors examination notes, their X-rays, patient summary stuff and their letters to my GP, all uploaded via the Mamedica portal. So when NHS app updates, there are 2 pharma interventions, so with any luck that's enough.

Thanks for all your input peeps.

This is my shortlist -

HighGreens 30% THC, <1% CBD Flower - Pave Breath (10g) £70

AAAA 23% THC, <1% CBD Flower - Gelato 33 (10g) £75

Cookies C HR T28 28% THC, <1% CBD Flower – Hawaiian Rain (10g) £69

Clearleaf® 510 Thread Battery (Black £9

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Mamedica® have bought my consultation forward to this Sunday.

I am a little confused between their 'prescriptions' page which has a smaller list of products and their 'formulary' page which is extensive.

Daly none of my preferences appear in the prescriptions page. So might need to rethink my strain choices.

Formulary - is this the sum total of what Mamedica can help with
Prescription - what they have prescribed

So if I were to ask or my preferred strains, is that a no go as none of them appear in the prescription list?

Just trying to wrap my tiny mind about what I'm looking at.

Sorry to spam the forum with daft questions.

Cheers All.

Hi @SacroFortis

I haven't got any experience with MaMedica but I'd recommend posting any questions about them in the clinic thread.

previous posters (most likely current or former mamedica patients) get notified when new comments are added to the thread so it may get you a bit more visibility.

hello. sounds very ankylosing spondylitis'y. hope you find relief

Hi. From what I have just read, it does. Will speak with my NHS MDT about it.

UPDATE -

Just got off the consultation with the clinician. He was very nice. I was super nervous. He was straightforward to speak with, gave me a lot of useful info and really made me feel at ease. I was asked what strains I had positive results with and also asked which strains I would like. I believe it has to be approved by the clinic's MDT, so here's hoping they are happy with the meds I have asked for. Specifically -

HighGreens 30% THC, <1% CBD Flower - Pave Breath (10g)
AAAA 23% THC, <1% CBD Flower - Gelato 33 (10g)
Cookies C HR T28 28% THC, <1% CBD Flower – Hawaiian Rain (10g)
Clearleaf® T850 Vape Cartridge (THC 850MG/ML CBD <50MG/ML) - UK Cheese (1ML)
Clearleaf® 510 Thread Battery (Black

I am so happy that this looks like a realistic option.

Many thanks for all your comments and support.

So glad I found this place. I hope to be a meaningful contributor in the future

Thank you.
