Fun fact; Wycombe have a 100% league record over City.

My mate got an elbow in the face on the way back from the car in Moss Side but he said it was well worth it! I have a memory of Wycombe singing ‘Stand Up if you hate Liam’ and Noel jumping in the air joining in at Adams Park.

Brilliant times.
 
Awful first game for Wigan, 3-0 down by 55 minutes.. Managed to grab a couple of goals towards the end but it is an eye opener as just how wafer thin our squad is and the starting 11 is nothing to be excited about either.

Long old season for us Wigan supporters, lack of investment and reliance of academy players may cost us dearly this season, first game of course and may be a complete over reaction but just looking at the squad compared to last season and it's dreadful 🤣 🤣 :(

Big fan of Alex Scott, I fear his career may be stunted with the valuation placed upon him but the man has very bright future as a professional that's for sure.

Had to double check who he plays for then and to be honest I support the local lads from round here whomever they play for and take great pride in players that come through our system especially, as far as todays result goes then you never know what's going to happen but I know city need to bring a bit more to the party than in the community shield as that was diabolical:rolleyes:
 
Slightly more optimistic than before the game - plenty of promise from the young signings and the performance better than I expected. Spurs, Villa & Man Ure fans probably called in sick from work today....

Certainly signs of life still at Newcastle despite a massive summer of what seems to have been a core group of players being sold left, right & centre.

The less said about Wigan the better, we're actively looking for investment despite having a billionaire owner, we're still carrying players that don't look fit for League 1 when the tough gets going, and not for the first season either, we're desperately lacking an attacking threat, a 15-20 goals a season striker.

We was well on top in the game against Leyton Orient, but if you can't get a goal from 20+ shots on target then you're always inviting the opposition to come and nick one or two, and that's exactly what happend at the weekend, amateur mistakes after being well on top as per usual.
 
Good to see York City in joint 3rd place after 3 games, :D my son took his son to see them beat Exeter City 2 - 1, nervous end to the game as Exeter scored quite late on but it sounded good on the radio, Long drive is Exeter to York and it would have felt even longer going back...

Going down like a ton of bricks, 3 games, no points, 2 goals for, 6 against.

Genuinely thought we was saved given our recent turbulent times ownership wise, local billionaire takes over and we more at threat of going down to League 2 than ever before, had the soul ripped out of the club from top to bottom.. Fucking hate football, makes you feel like pure shit at times 🥲

Don't even get me started on the disparity of wealth between the leagues, football has gone, long gone in my eyes.
 
How are we all feeling now that the transfer window has closed? I'm happy with what Newcastle United did - big money in, big egos out, good young players along with Nico Gonzalez. A new centre back would have been good, but it was an 8 out of 10 transfer window for me.
