Hi all,

Long-time lurker, finally ready to post and acquire a legal prescription. I have ulcerative colitis, mixed anxiety/depression, and have undiagnosed AuHD. I started the process for diagnosis of my neurodivergence while at university, but with the waiting lists, I was reluctant to go further with it.

When flaring up with my colitis, paracetamol and co-codamol barely helped. I still have mini-flares but these are now well controlled by adalimumab and an adjustment of my 5-ASA dose. During major flare-ups, cannabis oil was the only thing that allowed me to eat normally without fear of intense abdominal cramping and immediately rushing to the loo. I was able to manage my symptoms long enough to start a new treatment, and that was invaluable for me. Since then, my colitis symptoms have settled. However, in case of another experience like that, having legal MC at my disposal would be a real help.

For me, canna is now mainly a tool for me to control my executive function. It is more of a mental health and well-being tool for me alongside my antidepressant treatment; I find it much easier to keep on top of activities of daily living (showering, cooking, cleaning my home, emotionally regulating with work). I have been nervous about my use, but I see the benefits of it and would like to be in contact with a clinician who can monitor, advise and keep detailed medical records on my use. I have been adjusting my antidepressant dose over the years (sertraline), and have used private therapy for my depression/anxiety as well. I am currently taking two medications for my colitis.

Based on this medical history, would I meet eligibility criteria for MC treatment? And would CB1 Medical be an appropriate clinic for me?

Thank you!

Hi,

I have a recent ND/ADHD/Autism and Dyslexia diagnosis and use med canna products, as a reg pt, to help to support with remaining focused and cut out the noise. My advice regarding joining a new clinic is obviously do your research and then just be brave and take the plunge, its easy you'll see. Depends on your specific individual medical requirements and experience, which clinic may be the best match. You can always switch clinics, most of us here have at some point or are planning to. Its a buyers market...

Welcome and good morning, firstly I would say you should meet the threshold of medications tried and the fact you have had private therapy can only bolster your application.

Using the example of CB1 Medical you would contact them with an application and give permission for them to access your medical records so they could assess your records to see whether you are suitable for medical cannabis using the guidelines that particular clinic uses ,then if suitable they would arrange a consultation with you so in effect an easy to test the waters to see if you qualify under their criteria without too much to do at your end as they retrieve your medical records where as this can be time consuming when applying at other clinics as you have to obtain your records yourself and upload them. A downside with CB1 I found though as my wife is a patient there is that they are not very hands on with regular consultations unlike the clinic I'm with ( Cannabis Clinic Cardiff) that you have regular 3 monthly consults to monitor things.

Integro would have more regular consults if that is seen as a positive to you and costs the same as CB1 as in you only pays for your medication and delivery costs.

Alternaleaf also have regular consults with the same costs per annum as Integro and CB1 .

CCC are more expensive but seen as the gold standard by many patients with there regular 30 minute consultations to make sure Medical Cannabis is working for you and helping guide you to get the best results from Medical Cannabis , this clinic is Mental Health only but will happily assess your application to see if you qualify and guide you further.

Good luck with it all and feel free to ask anything you are unsure about.

100% you qualify like Gh says CB1 Medical just leave you too it and dont bother you. I've been with them nearly 3 years and i like the way they have just left me too it. I've probably had 4 consultations in that time all booked by me just to up my limit where all less than 10 mins so not really a hands on clinic but if I need them they are there. I do get a tick box questionnaire every few months that just asks how my mind set is and if any side effects. Good luck with your journey 🙏

I'm with CB1 Medical and things have only been positive for me.
If you're looking for cheaper than £5 a G flower, CB1 is no good at all. More than half of their offerings are top end. There are around 250 items available at the mo, also edible section is small although they have a lot of oils and vapes.
If you want DR led I would go with Cardiff Cannabis Clinic although this will be expensive for low usage.
Goodluck with your journey.

I'd go in via the AuHD/Anxiety route, but it will benefit everything you've got.

I'm with Integro. I think i'm at maybe two consultations a year currently. i think once you've been on the books for a while they don't go out of their way to do lots of them. I'm actually heading towards the need for another one. It's been a while since the last one.

Price of MC is relatively cheap with Intergo/ IPS. Cheapest at the minute is £37.50 for 10g for an Indica Hybrid, £45 for a Sativa Hybrid for 10g. So in terms of value for money it's pretty damned good, especially if you are on low income.

Thank you all for the clarification and for the advice, especially with considerations for budget and contact hours. Given my recent research, I think Alternaleaf or Integro would be a good choice. It helps to know that it's very normal to switch clinics over time!
I just have one more question: my tolerance is and has been low, so I'm unsure if I would need to refill my script every month, especially with the amount provided by clinics - would I need to purchase some every month, or can I skip certain months? Much appreciated.

skip. basically u have a rolling allowance that auto renews every 28 days

338 meds choices at Integro bro

Experiment on the lower THC% to start, unless you feel like Abi Shanti I. Perhaps get 1 of each type an Indica/Sativa/Hybrid Dried Flo. Maybe try a Hash Rosin Vape or the extracts like the Static or the Afghan hash etc

Read below post for a more in depth reply...

Buy as much or as little as you want. I don't order every month, hell when i started I didn't order for 8 months. I'm currently ordering about once every three months as I'm not using it for conditions that benefit from extreme use, mostly just anxiety and stress relief at the end of the day and to get some decent sleep. So 10g goes a very long way for me. I like to be say 95% functional throughout the day so I don't tend to use during it. There are also issues with driving and usage (cool off times before driving to take into account). I drive when working so don't use beforehand as I work in an industry with a zero crash/incident mentality.

You could also choose more than flower. Oil, vape carts, hash, edibles are also available if you can get your clinic to sign off on them. I'm more of an edibles type, than a vaping type, so I tend to go down that route. But there is choice available depending on what you want/need.

You should also be aware, in terms of swapping clinics, that you can only use Integro once. If you leave them, you can't go back. That's something that someone posted about a few months back. Don't know if the situation has changed since then, but it seems some clinics don't want you back if you swap. Not sure about Alternaleaf either, I think there is some controversy with them, but can't remember what it is. I know very few people seem to admit to using them and I saw some posts from people last year saying they left them. Possibly due to range of available MC or overpricing. Most on here seem to go with Medicann, CB1 Medical, Cannabis Clinic Cardiff or Integro. There is probably a graph somewhere showing the most popular clinics. Integro/ IPS seem to have the biggest range and also mostly the cheapest strains AFAIK, but they do dot the i's and cross the t's when it comes to the initial consultation.
