Wembley stadium experience

Looking for some advice from people who've dealt with Wembley before.
I contacted Wembley before an event recently about taking my MC and was approved for a Medical Exemption Certificate.
They gave me written instructions that if I needed to medicate, I should go to an Information Booth, where staff would escort me outside and then bring me back into the stadium.

The first time I needed to use it, everything went fine. A member of staff took me outside, waited while I medicated and brought me back in.

Later on I needed to go out again. The manager at the information desk recognised me and told another member of staff to take me outside and bring me back in. He did that, but when we got back to the entrance security refused to let me in because I didn't have a wristband.
I explained that I'd been taken outside specifically to medicate, had the medical exemption certificate and was following the process Wembley had given me.

I offered the certificate to the security guard but he refused to even look at it. The Wembley staff member kept explaining that his manager had told him to take me out and bring me back in, but security still refused.
I was eventually allowed through, only to be stopped again by another security guard a few moments later. I spotted the woman who had taken me out the first time and called to her, and she intervened and got me back inside.

Just wondering what people would do in this situation. Has anyone had anything similar happen at Wembley, or had issues with security not understanding/accepting the medical exemption? Any advice or experiences would be appreciated

I had a similar thing at the Spurs ground when my mate had the tickets on his phone, he stayed inside whilst I went to medicate.

They were quite fair to be honest and regardless of my medication if I had left without the ticket, even though I had a screenshot it would have been the same story.

In the end we had to get my mate to come down and show the tickets to the security guys. Annoyingly even though the CS manager let me out, she did not have the authority to let me in without a valid ticket even though she knows the facts of the situation.

It was all a bit bizarre but it seems the only advice is to keep your tickets/entry requirements on you. To my knowledge they haven't broken any laws surrounding this but I'm no expert on that side.

Ultimately I think this will get broken down into 2 issues.

1) letting you out to medicate which they did brilliantly with. They followed the law perfectly.

The 2nd issue however, is trying to regain access without a valid entry ticket. They will argue, and probably fairly that it is your responsibility to make sure you have the wristband to regain entry after being let out and it is policy to refuse entry without it.

I see both sides, a bit of common sense would go a long way but the last thing these chaps want to do is let someone in who doesn't have a ticket and then that person goes on to do something horrific as a result.

Ah okay, my mistake. I thought you'd left the wrist band inside.

I guess we'd need to know more about this wrist band, It's clear the security chaps have misunderstood something, somewhere. Maybe there are attendees who were allowed to exit with a wristband style system and the whole thing has confused these poor guys and led to him stopping you in your tracks. From security's perspective, any kind of contradiction to what they've been told and they'll just refuse for fear of what I mentioned above.

The only thing that I would probably recommend doing is writing an email to the same people you had originally discussed things with pre-event, explaining the situation and that clearly security had been briefed differently and the whole thing could have been avoided with better internal comms. You're lucky they let you in, the next person may not be so lucky. Less of a complaint but more of an experience feedback type of email.

Sounds like a training problem, some know some don't. If those difficult security were sub contracted that's even more likely!

Yea I've asked Wembley themselves for clarification on the wristband, it wasn't mentioned in any of my emails with the person who sorted out my cirtificate. It wasn't mentioned the first time I went out to medicate. I appreciate the security might not have been trained or might not have known, but my contact with Wembley suggested everyone would be informed and I'd have no issues leaving or re entering the venue as long as I followed the instructions I was given. I ended up leaving the event early because of it as well.

I think feeding it back is your only option unfortunately, maybe give them some feedback on how it made you feel, how it could have been avoided (better comms, common sense, etc.) in the hope that when the next patient attends they feel the benefit of your fedback experience.

I'm sorry this ruined your day mate and without a doubt you haven't done anything wrong here at all. I don't know if it's particularly helpful by I try to remember Hanlons Razor in times like this "never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by incompetence"

The staff member who had escorted me had to run and get their supervisor, who then called the security team leader to get them to let me back in.

All this was after a week of being told by Wembley customer service that smoking/vaping was not permitted anywhere around the stadium, with no exceptions made for medical use. I was only told there was a process after I lodged a complaint.

Sorry you had that experience, I found the actual Wembley staff to be great, it's the outsourced security that caused issue. I wasn't even allowed to have my carer come with me, I was told she wasn't even allowed downstairs never mind outside with me. Yea mine was a cart too. I made sure to contact the relevant team at Wembley weeks before the event. Had good communication with a guy over email explaining the entire process to me. Just all failed on re entry.
Just a big shame really, put me off going to any show that would be long enough to require me to medicate now

Idk about you mate but I saw plenty of fuckers puffing away in their fruity vapes the entire time. Yet there was no chance I was gonna risk getting kicked out myself.

Same. That's why I spent weeks in contact with them to find the correct process. The chances of getting kicked out are slim but not zero and I'm not taking that risk.

Yes literally, I had a steward stood behind me, a row of people in front puffing away on their lost Mary's and nothing was done. I had to go on a 10 minute walk and get fucked about by security to have mine after leaving early I wish I'd just risked it in my seat haha

Good job, I don't go wembey then haha, too many people for me.
We shouldn't have to be, but just be sneaky about it, my vape is tiny and fits in my palm, so it would be hard to recognize from far away.

My essential companion had to stay inside too.

Most venues in London are 100% fine. Wembley just needs to get the process more refined. Giving us a specific wristband would actually really help.

I was only told there was a process after I lodged a complaint.

When they realised breaching the Equality Act might involve fines and losing licenses for discriminating against disabled people. Not to mention the hit to their reputation. Sometimes you have to wave the big stick around and occasionally you have to hit them with it.

Edibles are the only way i could do a show or going to a place like that. Eat a load before going in and just surf the wave for the hours I was there. If needs be order some gummies from your clinic and have one or two throughout the show or match.
