Disclosing MC to professional visitors - how do you handle it?

How do you handle visitors to your home with MC? I don't mean family and friends, I mean people who are there in a professional capacity - tradespeople, cleaners, that sort of thing.

I recently hired a new cleaner, and told my partner to let them know about my MC beforehand. I won't tolerate anyone being negative about it in my own home, even if it's just moaning about the smell.

Now, whenever someone new is coming round to do work, I make it clear upfront that it's an MC household, so they'll see and likely smell cannabis and the equipment that goes with it.

I do this for two reasons. First, it gives them the chance to say they're uncomfortable and leave before anything starts, since some people do have bad history with cannabis. Second, it removes any chance of them panicking and calling the police if they think it's illegal.

I've only started doing this recently. I never used to give much of a fuck, but I'm trying to be fairer and look out for everyone's interests. That said, if someone starts having a go about it in my home, I'm still throwing them out and spinning their jaw for the privilege.

How does everyone else handle this? Do you not bother mentioning it, hide it, or something else?

We had a P.C.S.O round yesterday but just a doorstep visit and as it wasn't obvious so I felt no need to bring it up but had they needed to come in I would of made it quite clear before they set foot in the house to defuse any awkward moments and I have mentioned it to workmen in the past where relevant.

They usually arent interested and have seen it 1000x before.
I have everyone from social services, Occupational Therapists and the Police in my house with medical cannabis.
I tell them about it before they sit down and point out where it is.
Only one showed an interest (a cleaner) and I sent them on their way with a sample.

Usually they just say " Och dinnae worry lad, my husband smokes that crap all the time"

Come to think of it I think I saw you talking about this last year and I thought it was a good idea then. It may well have planted the seed for me!

I tend to get a very similar response, my old cleaner's dad was a dealer so she really didn't give a shit lol.

I've only had one person express some concerns when doing some bathroom work. He asked me if it was possible for me to not use it whilst he was there (he was supposed to be there for 3 days).

Obviously I told him to do one and his boss had a new chap around that afternoon to continue fitting it.

That was a good 18 months ago now though.

And I was a council tenant for many years, I once had the council painters round doing the outside, they must have noticed the smell as one of the lads asked if he could skin up in my kitchen, which they did for their working week and looked after their host as they did so, another time was the rewire, I had a grow room in the loft above the central heating tank, when I removed it and the wiring I left the wire clips in place, and a few vent holes here and there covered just with insulation, towards the end of the job the sparky was relaying a tale of him and his mate having a smoke and how he'd wired his mates grow room for him, so he knew what I'd been doing...

That is the biggest indicator that you have someone 420 friendly, living at the property. The only people I ever knew that burnt them or used aromatherapy oils were also cannabis fiends of the highest order.

Me, do I tell people. Not really, but I also don't vape that much. Edibles don't smell that much and are much more stealthy. If I had the police in, then I would. To be fair most doctors, nurses that might come here already would know from one look at my records. I've made it very clear that I am being prescribed, even if Integro won't officially send my GP anything saying so. I've had them scan a few scrips on to their system and had them added to my records.

I don't really have many people around, so it's never been an issue. I can do most things that might need a tradesperson, myself and for the ones that i can't do I know enough people that wouldn't care or might want to join me.
